23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the esteemed Union general, Winfield Scott Hancock, who played a pivotal role in shaping American history during the mid-19th century. The engraving, created by J Rogers and published in 1862-1867 as part of "The War with the South: A History of the Late Rebellion" immortalizes Hancock's legacy. Hancock's significance cannot be overstated; he was instrumental in securing victory for the Union at the historic Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. His strategic brilliance and unwavering leadership proved crucial in turning the tide against Confederate forces during this decisive battle. Beyond his military achievements, Hancock ventured into politics after the Civil War. In 1880, he emerged as a Democratic candidate for president but narrowly lost to James Garfield. This further underscores his impact on American society beyond his military career. The image captures Hancock exuding strength and determination while donning his military uniform—a symbol of his commitment to preserving unity within a divided nation. It serves as a reminder of not only his personal courage but also that of all soldiers who fought valiantly during this tumultuous period. As we gaze upon this remarkable print today, we are transported back to an era defined by conflict and resilience. It stands as a testament to both Hancock's individual contributions and those made by countless others who dedicated themselves to their country during one of its most challenging chapters—the American Civil War.
