23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This view of the Ponte Rotto in Rome, as depicted by Dutch artist Jan Asselijn (c.1636-c.1644), transports us back in time to the 17th century. The ancient Roman bridge, also known as the Senatorial Bridge or Pons Aemilius, is seen from the east bank of the River Tiber. Asselijn masterfully captures the essence of this historic structure with its arches and worn-out stone, which stands proudly amidst the bustling river activity. Boats filled with men and cargo make their way along the river, adding to the vibrant scene. The bridge, which once connected the two banks of the Tiber, was an essential transportation hub during the Roman era and continued to serve as a vital link between the city and its surroundings in the 17th century. Asselijn's meticulous use of chalk and ink on paper creates a striking contrast between the black and white tones, further emphasizing the textures and details of the bridge and the surrounding landscape. The artist's keen eye for composition and attention to detail make this drawing a valuable addition to the heritage of both Dutch and Italian art during the Golden Age. The Ponte Rotto, which translates to 'broken bridge,' is a testament to the rich history and cultural significance of ancient Rome. This view of the bridge, as captured by Jan Asselijn, offers a unique perspective on a landmark that has stood the test of time and continues to captivate visitors from around the world.
