17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This 18th century artwork, titled "Venus Asks Neptune to Prevent Telemachus from Landing on Ithaca," is a design for a wall painting by the Dutch artist Ruik Keyert. The scene is inspired by the rich mythology of ancient Greece and Rome, specifically the Odyssey, an epic poem attributed to Homer. In the painting, we see four figures engaged in a dramatic encounter at sea. Venus, the goddess of love, stands at the helm of a magnificent chariot, her ethereal beauty radiating from her form. With a gentle yet determined expression, she reaches out to Neptune, the god of the sea, who sits regally on his trident. Venus implores Neptune to prevent Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, from landing on Ithaca, his rightful home. Cupid, the mischievous god of love, hovers above the scene, his arrow at the ready, while two men, possibly sailors, look on in awe from the foreground. The vibrant colors and intricate details of the artwork bring the mythological figures to life, transporting us to a time when gods and goddesses intervened in human affairs. The artwork, with its rich history and cultural significance, is a testament to the enduring appeal of Greek and Roman mythology. This masterpiece, created using ink on paper, is a treasure of European art heritage, showcasing the skill and creativity of Ruik Keyert. The Rijksmuseum in the Netherlands is fortunate to have this exquisite piece in its collection, allowing us to appreciate the beauty and depth of this artwork.
