17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the essence of unrest and violence that engulfed Russia in 1906. The image, featured on the cover of the renowned French satirical magazine L'Assiette au Beurre, depicts a male fanatic with a resolute expression, aiming a revolver directly at the viewer. The face of this man symbolizes the turbulent times faced by Russia during this period. The Russian Revolution of 1905 had left its mark on the country, leading to widespread revolutionary fervor and social upheaval. This photograph serves as a powerful metaphor for those staring down the barrel of a gun - representing not only individuals but an entire nation caught in political turmoil. Tsar Nicholas II, ruler of Russia at that time, struggled to maintain control over his people amidst growing discontent and demands for change. The intensity portrayed in this image reflects both the desperation felt by many Russians and their determination to fight against oppression. The use of color adds depth to this historical snapshot, emphasizing both the gravity and brutality associated with warfare and rebellion. It is through images like these that we can gain insight into pivotal moments in history and understand how they shaped nations. As we examine this thought-provoking print today, it serves as a reminder not only of past events but also as an opportunity to reflect upon our own societies' struggles for justice and equality.
