23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This black and white albumen print, titled "Supply Steamers at Nashville, Tennessee, 1862" captures a significant moment in American history. Taken by the talented photographer Rodney Poole during the 19th century, this image showcases the bustling activity along the Cumberland River. In this snapshot of time, we witness paddle steamers loaded with essential supplies for the war effort during the American Civil War. The boats are heavily laden with barrels of biscuits and hardtack bread, sacks filled with provisions, and stacks of firewood. These cargo-laden vessels symbolize resilience and determination as they navigate through turbulent waters to deliver much-needed resources to soldiers on the front lines. The composition's monochromatic palette adds a timeless quality to this historical scene while emphasizing its documentary nature. Poole's meticulous attention to detail allows us to appreciate every element within the frame - from each individual barrel stacked neatly on deck to smoke billowing out of their chimneys. As we gaze upon this remarkable photograph held in The Metropolitan Museum of Art collection, we are transported back in time. We can almost hear the sounds of steamboats churning through water and feel a sense of anticipation that surrounded these supply missions. Rodney Poole's work serves as an invaluable record not only capturing a specific location but also preserving an important chapter in our nation's heritage. This image stands as a testament to human ingenuity and resourcefulness amidst challenging circumstances – reminding us how crucial supplies were during times of conflict like never before seen or experienced again.
