23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the image of a small boy, dressed in traditional Chinese clothing, standing in front of a door in Chinatown, San Francisco. The scene is believed to have been captured between 1896 and 1906, during a period of significant growth and change for the Chinese community in the United States. Arnold Genthe, a renowned American photographer, was known for his documentation of everyday life in various communities, including this image of Chinatown. The photograph provides a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of this historic neighborhood, which was a melting pot of immigrants from China, Japan, and other parts of Asia. The boy's expression is serious, yet curious, as he looks directly at the camera. His clothing, with its intricate patterns and bold colors, stands out against the muted tones of the door and the background. The door itself, with its ornate carvings and intricate design, speaks to the craftsmanship and artistry of the community. The photograph is a testament to the daily life and experiences of Chinese Americans during this period, a time of both challenges and opportunities. It is a reminder of the importance of preserving the stories and histories of diverse communities, and the role that photography can play in capturing and sharing these stories. This image is part of the vast collection of the Library of Congress, which holds a wealth of historical and cultural treasures, including film transparencies, still images, and other visual materials. It is a valuable resource for scholars, researchers, and anyone interested in exploring the history and heritage of the United States and its people.
