17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Adriaen Coorte's exquisite masterpiece, "Shells on a Stone Plinth," dates back to 1698 and is a stunning representation of the Dutch Golden Age's fascination with the natural world. This oil on paper on panel painting showcases an assortment of seashells artfully arranged on a stone plinth against a black background. The still life composition, a popular genre during this period, highlights the beauty and diversity of aquatic life. Coorte's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the intricate textures and colors of the shells, each one unique in shape and hue. The artist's skillful use of light and shadow adds depth and dimension to the image, making the shells appear as if they are popping out of the canvas. The stone plinth, a common element in Dutch still life paintings, serves as a reminder of the connection between art and science during this era. The natural history of these shells was a subject of great interest and study, and the careful arrangement on the plinth emphasizes their value as objects of both aesthetic and scientific significance. This tabletop scene, with its simple yet elegant composition, invites the viewer to contemplate the wonders of nature and the skill of the artist. The painting is a testament to the enduring appeal of still life as a genre and the importance of the natural world in Dutch art during the Golden Age. This image, from the esteemed Rijksmuseum collection, is a must-see for anyone interested in the history of art, particularly those with a focus on the Low Countries and the Dutch Golden Age.
