23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Francesco Villamena's engraving, "Saint Francis Receiving the Stigmata," dates back to the 16th century and offers a captivating depiction of the apparition of the stigmata bestowed upon Saint Francis of Assisi. The image, created in 1597, is a testament to the rich artistic heritage of Italy during the Baroque period. In this engraving on laid paper, we see Saint Francis, depicted as a humble and pious man, in a state of profound contemplation. Surrounded by a serene landscape, he is shown with his eyes closed, lost in prayer. Above him, an angel appears, its wings outstretched, as it imparts the stigmata - the wounds of the crucifixion - onto the saint's hands, feet, and side. The intricate details of the engraving are a marvel to behold. The delicate lettering and the finely drawn figures convey a sense of reverence and awe. The use of grey tones in this image adds to the somber and contemplative mood. This work by Francesco Villamena is a rare and valuable piece of Christian art, showcasing the emergence of the stigmata, a significant event in the life of Saint Francis of Assisi. It is a reminder of the deep spiritual connection between the saint and his divine creator, and a testament to the enduring power of art to inspire and captivate. This engraving is a must-see for anyone interested in the history of art, Christianity, or the cultural heritage of Italy. It can be found in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., where it continues to be a source of inspiration and wonder for visitors from around the world.
