17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print transports us back to the 1st century BC, depicting a moment of triumph as a Roman centurion conquers the Gauls under the leadership of Julius Caesar. The image captures the essence of ancient warfare, showcasing the power and dominance of Rome in its quest for expansion. The centurion stands tall and resolute, dressed in his formidable armor with an imposing helmet that signifies his rank. Behind him lies a fortified castle, symbolizing both strength and conquest. This scene serves as a reminder of Caesar's successful campaign against Gaul during the Gallic Wars between 58 and 51 BC. The print not only showcases military might but also provides insight into Roman culture and weaponry. A ballista, a powerful siege engine used by Romans during battles, is prominently displayed alongside swords sheathed in their scabbards. These weapons represent both defense and offense as they were instrumental in securing victory on countless battlefields. As we gaze upon this engraving from La France et les Francais a Travers les Siecles, Volume I, we are transported to an era where men fought bravely for their country's glory. It serves as a testament to human resilience in times of conflict while reminding us of the historical significance behind Julius Caesar's name - one that forever altered Europe's destiny through his military prowess and political acumen.
