17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a detailed portrait of Peter II, painted around 1728. As the grandson of the renowned Peter the Great, Peter II ascended to power in 1727 but tragically succumbed to smallpox just three years later at the tender age of fifteen. This exquisite artwork is housed in The Hermitage collection in St Petersburg. The image showcases a young boy exuding an air of regality and poise beyond his years. Dressed in a resplendent grey royal attire, every brushstroke brings out the intricate details of his costume and hairstyle. A meticulously crafted wig adorns his head, symbolizing his status as an imperial ruler within the Romanov dynasty. Despite his youth, this portrait reveals a sense of maturity and wisdom that belies his short-lived reign. The artist skillfully captures both the innocence and gravitas that defined Peter II's brief time on earth. This painting not only serves as a testament to artistic excellence but also provides valuable insights into Russian history during the 18th century. It stands as a poignant reminder of how disease can cut short even the most promising lives, leaving behind legacies tinged with what-ifs and unfulfilled potential. As we gaze upon this remarkable piece, we are transported back in time to witness firsthand the face of an emperor whose destiny was tragically altered by smallpox—a haunting portrayal frozen forever on canvas for future generations to appreciate and ponder upon.
