17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this striking photograph, Nelson O'Shaughnessy, the Charge d'Affaires to Mexico for the United States in 1914, is depicted in formal attire, standing confidently against a plain background. The image, captured by the renowned Harris & Ewing photographic studio, showcases O'Shaughnessy's impeccable sartorial choices. He wears a crisp, white shirt, a dark suit, and a straw boater hat, which was a popular fashion accessory among American men during the early 20th century. As the Charge d'Affaires, O'Shaughnessy served as the head of the diplomatic mission in Mexico City during a tumultuous period in U.S.-Mexico relations. Tensions between the two countries had been escalating due to the ongoing Mexican Revolution and the controversial Tampico Incident, which involved the seizure of the U.S.S. Sacred Heart by the Mexican Navy. O'Shaughnessy's diplomatic efforts played a crucial role in preventing a full-blown war between the United States and Mexico. This photograph, taken at the height of O'Shaughnessy's diplomatic career, captures the gravity and importance of his role. The image serves as a testament to the critical role that diplomats play in shaping international relations and maintaining peace between nations. The photograph, with its timeless composition and the subject's poised demeanor, is a fascinating glimpse into the past and a reminder of the enduring significance of diplomacy. The photograph was taken by Harris & Ewing, a renowned photographic studio based in Washington, D.C. The studio, which was founded by George H. Harris and Martha Ewing Kuntze in 1896, was known for its high-quality portraits of politicians, diplomats, and other prominent figures. This particular photograph is part of the extensive Harris & Ewing Collection at the Library of Congress.
