31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph, titled "Les Indesirables: Examen des pièces d'identité d'un professeur d'une école de Mulhouse et de sa femme, frappés d'expulsion," was published in the French magazine L'Illustration in 1924, in the volume dedicated to the First World War. The image captures a poignant moment during the post-war period in Mulhouse, Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France. The photograph depicts a man and a woman, both identified as a professor and his wife, who have been marked for expulsion. They are shown seated at a table, surrounded by their belongings and a pile of identity papers. The man, with a serious expression, carefully examines the documents, while his wife looks on with a worried gaze. The atmosphere is heavy with the weight of uncertainty and the impending journey ahead. The background of the image suggests a chaotic scene, with soldiers and other civilians milling about, likely waiting for their turn to be processed. The sense of disorder and upheaval is further emphasized by the piles of luggage and belongings scattered around the room. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the displacement and upheaval that followed the end of the First World War, particularly in the Alsace-Lorraine region, which was a bone of contention between France and Germany throughout history. The image captures the raw emotion and uncertainty of the post-war period, as people were forced to leave their homes and start anew in a foreign land. The photograph is a powerful reminder of the human cost of war and the enduring impact it has on individuals and communities. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the ability to adapt to new circumstances, even in the most challenging of times.
