23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This 18th century artwork, titled "Gustavus III Attending Christmas Mass in St. Peter's, Rome," was created by the renowned French artist Louis Jean Desprez. The painting depicts King Gustavus III of Sweden (1746-1792), dressed in royal attire, attending a Christmas Mass service at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The King is accompanied by Count Giovanni Angelo Braschi, later to become Pope Pius VI, who is seen in the background, dressed in his cardinal robes. The painting provides a glimpse into the rich cultural exchange between European monarchs during this period. The vibrant colors and intricate details of the artwork reflect the opulence and grandeur of the Catholic Church during the 18th century. The congregation, dressed in their finest attire, can be seen filling the pews, with the altar and ornate decorations adding to the solemnity of the occasion. The painting also showcases the influence of Italian art on French art during this time, with the use of chiaroscuro and the dramatic play of light and shadow. The painting was likely created during the reign of Emperor Joseph II of Austria (1741-1790), who was known for his patronage of the arts. The artist, Louis Jean Desprez, was a prominent figure in the French art scene, having studied under Jacques-Louis David and Jean-Baptiste Greuze. Desprez's mastery of ink and his ability to capture the essence of the scene make this painting a valuable addition to the heritage of European art. The painting not only provides a historical record of the attendance of King Gustavus III at the Christmas Mass in St. Peter's Basilica but also offers insights into the cultural and artistic exchanges between European monarchs during the 18th century.
