17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning triptych print, titled 'The Great Battle at Ichinotani during the Genpei Wars' (Ichinotani Genpei Okassen), created by the renowned Japanese artist Yoshikazu in 1853, transports us back to the 12th century and the pivotal moment of the Genpei War. The print depicts the decisive Battle of Ichinotani, where the Minamoto clan, led by Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Minamoto no Ushiwakamaru, faced the Taira clan under the command of Jirobei. The print showcases the dynamic and chaotic scene of the battlefield, with horses and riders advancing and descending the slopes of Ichinotani, a geographical feature located in Fukuji, Honshu, Japan. The Minamoto forces are shown on the left, with their banners unfurled and their determination etched on their faces. The Taira forces are depicted on the right, with their animals, including horses and elephants, adding to the chaos and intensity of the battle. The print masterfully combines the natural beauty of the landscape with the raw power of the human and animal figures. The trees and plants are intricately detailed, adding depth and texture to the scene. The use of color and the bold lines of the woodblock print create a sense of movement and energy. This print is a testament to the rich artistic heritage of Japan during the Edo period and the Tokugawa era. It is now part of the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where it continues to inspire and captivate visitors with its historical significance and artistic beauty.
