23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This image is the front cover of The Graphic, a renowned illustrated weekly newspaper from August 1, 1891. The illustration, created by W. Small, showcases a significant moment in British history at Marlborough House in London. At the center of the image, we see H.R.H. Princess Alexandra, Princess of Wales, presenting certificates to a group of nurses. Princess Alexandra, who was the wife of the future King Edward VII, was a passionate advocate for nursing and healthcare. She had established the Royal National Pension Fund for Nurses in 1887 to provide financial support for nurses who had fallen on hard times. The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, looks on approvingly as his wife presents the certificates. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with the elegant interiors of Marlborough House providing a fitting backdrop for this moment of generosity and compassion. The engraving captures the essence of the late 19th century, with its formal attire, intricate details, and the sense of tradition and dignity that characterized the British monarchy during this period. The image serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Royal Family's commitment to healthcare and social welfare, and the vital role that nurses played in shaping the future of the medical profession. The Graphic's coverage of this event not only highlights the importance of nursing and healthcare during this era but also underscores the significant role that the press played in shaping public opinion and promoting social reforms.
