Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases General Benjamin Henry Grierson, a prominent Union cavalry general during the American Civil War. The talented artist J Rogers beautifully captures Grierson's commanding presence and distinguished features in this engraving from volume III of "The War with the South: A History of the Late Rebellion". In 1863, Grierson led an audacious military operation known as Grierson's Raid, which involved an arduous 800-mile advance deep into Confederate territory. This daring maneuver was a crucial part of General Ulysses Grant's Vicksburg campaign. After the war, General Benjamin Henry Grierson played a pivotal role in organizing and leading the 10th Cavalry regiment, famously known as the Buffalo Soldiers. Comprised of both black enlisted men and white officers, these regiments made significant contributions to post-war America. With his impressive beard and military uniform, Grierson embodies strength and determination in this portrait. His legacy as a skilled commander is forever etched in history. This remarkable print transports us back to the nineteenth century when brave soldiers like General Benjamin Henry Grierson fought valiantly for their country during one of its most challenging times. It serves as a powerful reminder of our nation's rich heritage and those who dedicated their lives to preserving it.
