17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
The captivating print titled "Francesco I d Este Invites Foreign Scholars to Court" transports us back to the 17th century, immersing us in the grandeur of the Baroque era. The image captures a significant moment in history when Francesco I d Este, Duke of Modena and Reggio, extends an invitation to foreign scholars at his court. In this intricately detailed etching by Bartolomeo Fenice, we witness a group of learned men gathered in the map room of Francesco's palace. Dressed in regal attire, they engage in intellectual discourse while surrounded by shelves filled with ancient texts and maps that represent knowledge from across different countries. This scene epitomizes the importance placed on education during this time period. As a patron of arts and sciences, Francesco sought to cultivate an environment where scholars could exchange ideas and contribute to the advancement of knowledge. The presence of military personnel suggests that these intellectuals were not only valued for their academic pursuits but also for their strategic insights. Fenice masterfully captures both the opulence of the interior space and the intellectual vibrancy within it. Through this evocative artwork, we are reminded of how powerful individuals like Francesco I d Este played a pivotal role in shaping cultural heritage through their support for learning and innovation. Displayed proudly within museum galleries such as The Met today, this print serves as a testament to our enduring fascination with historical figures who recognized that true power lies not only in wealth or military might but also in fostering intellectual growth within society.
