17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Empress Josephine Presenting her Children to the Emperor Alexander at Malmaison - A Glimpse into Royal Family Bonds

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This photo print, created by artist Jean Louis Victor Viger in the 19th century, offers a rare glimpse into a significant moment in history. The scene takes place at Chateau de Malmaison, a stately home near Epernay in France. In this vibrant oil portrait, we witness the formal meeting between Empress Josephine and Emperor Alexander II of Russia. Dressed elegantly in full-length attire, Empress Josephine stands proudly with her children by her side. The atmosphere is filled with warmth as she presents them to the emperor, symbolizing both familial ties and diplomatic relations between their countries. The children's military uniforms reflect their royal lineage and hint at an uncertain future amidst war. The composition beautifully captures the emotions of this encounter - from the empress's regal poise to the emperor's welcoming expression. This artwork not only showcases Jean Louis Victor Viger's mastery of color and detail but also serves as a testament to his ability to convey complex relationships through art media. As viewers immerse themselves in this historical moment frozen in time, they are transported back to an era where royalty played pivotal roles on both personal and political stages. It is through prints like these that we can appreciate not only the artistic talent behind them but also gain insight into our shared human experiences across different cultures and time periods.
