17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photo print, titled "The Docks, Southampton, 1895" takes us back to the bustling port of Southampton in the late 19th century. Captured by Poulton & Co. , this image showcases a vibrant maritime scene with ships of various sizes elegantly docked along the coast of Hampshire. The foreground reveals a railway system specifically designed for transporting goods efficiently. Published as part of "Round the World in Pictures and Photographs: From London Bridge to Charing Cross via Yokohama and Chicago" by George Newnes Ltd in London, 1895, this photograph offers a glimpse into an era defined by industrial growth and international trade. The monochrome aesthetic adds a timeless charm to the composition while emphasizing the intricate details of each vessel. Southampton's strategic location on the Solent Strait made it an essential hub for shipping industry during that time. This image not only captures its significance as a major port but also highlights its role in connecting England with other parts of the world through sea transportation. As we admire this remarkable piece from The Print Collector collection, we are transported back to an age when waterfronts were teeming with activity - where cargo was loaded onto trains destined for distant locations and ships sailed off into uncharted waters. It serves as a testament to both human ingenuity and our enduring relationship with water transport throughout history.
