23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Combat Aerien; Guynemer, Le jeune héros sur son Nieuport de Chasse

EDITORS COMMENTS
(Combat Aviator; Guynemer, The Young Hero on His Fighter Plane), created in 1917, is a captivating photograph that pays tribute to the legendary French fighter ace, Georges Marie Guynemer. This image was published in "L'Album de la Guerre 1914-1919, Volume 2" by L'Illustration, Paris, in 1924. Guynemer, affectionately known as "Guy," was a decorated military aviator who served in the French Air Force during World War I. With a record of 54 confirmed aerial victories, he was the most successful fighter pilot of the war. In this photograph, the young hero is depicted standing confidently next to his Nieuport 11 fighter plane, a biplane that was a common sight during the early years of aerial warfare. The image captures the essence of the era, with the backdrop of a war-torn landscape and the stark contrast between the pristine white uniform and the black and white tones of the photograph. Guynemer's intense gaze and determined expression convey the courage and resolve of the men and women who served in the armed forces during this tumultuous time. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who fought in the first global conflict of the 20th century. It is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the human race and the incredible advancements in technology that transformed the face of warfare forever. The photograph remains an important historical document, providing a glimpse into the past and a reminder of the enduring legacy of the heroes of World War I.
