17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a unique artwork titled "Cock Eyeing a Free-standing Screen Painted with Cock, Hen, and Chicks, from Spring Rain Surimono Album". Created by the talented artist Yanagawa Shigenobu in the early 19th century during Japan's Edo period, this privately published polychrome woodblock print is a true masterpiece of ukiyo-e art. The image portrays a magnificent rooster fixated on an intricately painted screen featuring its own kind - a hen and adorable chicks. The vibrant colors and meticulous details bring these feathered creatures to life, capturing the essence of nature's beauty. Shigenobu's skillful use of ink and color on paper creates a sense of realism that is truly awe-inspiring. This piece not only exemplifies artistic excellence but also reflects the rich cultural heritage of Japan. It beautifully combines elements of literature and visual arts through its incorporation of poetry within the composition. The accompanying poem adds depth to the artwork, enhancing our understanding and appreciation for its symbolic meaning. Preserved at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, this remarkable surimono serves as a testament to Yanagawa Shigenobu's mastery in woodblock printing. Its inclusion in the museum's collection highlights its significance as an important contribution to Japanese art history. Through this photo print, we are transported back in time to experience the beauty and craftsmanship that defined 19th-century Japan. It reminds us of the enduring allure found within traditional art
