17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Christmas Eve at Windsor Castle -- The Queen's Christmas Tree; after J. Roberts, 1819
EDITORS COMMENTS
is a beautiful and evocative photographic print depicting the grandeur and tradition of a Victorian Christmas Eve at Windsor Castle. The image, taken from "The Graphic: An Illustrated Weekly Newspaper," Volume 44, July to December, 1891, is a reproduction of an original painting by J. Roberts, dating back to 1819. The photograph captures the warm and inviting atmosphere of the castle's interior, with its high ceilings, ornate decorations, and large Christmas tree adorned with candles and colorful ornaments. In the foreground, a group of children and girls are gathered around the tree, their faces filled with wonder and excitement as they prepare to celebrate the holiday with their royal hosts. The castle, a historic fortress and royal residence in Berkshire, England, is bathed in candlelight, creating a magical and otherworldly effect. The girls' dresses, with their intricate patterns and rich fabrics, add to the sense of opulence and grandeur, while the boys in their smart attire stand slightly apart, observing the festivities with a mixture of curiosity and reverence. The photograph is a testament to the enduring power of Christmas traditions, and the role of the monarchy in shaping and preserving them. It also offers a glimpse into the lives of the Victorian elite, and the ways in which they celebrated the holiday season in the late 19th century. Overall, "Christmas Eve at Windsor Castle -- The Queen's Christmas Tree; after J. Roberts, 1819" is a stunning and evocative work of art that captures the spirit of the holiday season and the magic of Christmas past.
