17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a rare glimpse into the lives of the notorious outlaw Jesse James and his family. Taken between 1881-1883, it showcases Jesse Jr. and Mary, the children of this infamous American figure and his wife Zerelda Mimms James. The portrait exudes a sense of innocence as the young brother and sister sit side by side, their expressions reflecting both curiosity and resilience. The image is part of the Pictorial History of the Wild West, a comprehensive documentation by James D Horan and Paul Sann published in London in 1954. It offers an intriguing window into 19th-century America, where crime thrived alongside family bonds. Despite their father's criminal reputation, these children radiate an undeniable connection that transcends societal judgment. Jesse Jr. , Mary, along with their siblings Tim James and Zee James (not pictured), were raised amidst controversy but managed to carve out their own identities beyond their father's shadow. This photograph serves as a testament to their resilience in navigating life under such extraordinary circumstances. As we gaze upon this monochrome portrayal of innocence tinged with notoriety, we are reminded that even within families touched by infamy, love endures. The legacy left behind by Jesse James may be one marked by crime; however, this image reminds us that there is always more than meets the eye when it comes to understanding complex figures from history.
