17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Recuperating from the Horrors of War - A British Officer's Journey Home
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this poignant photograph, we witness a powerful depiction of the toll that war takes on both body and soul. Taken during the 2nd Boer War between 1899 and 1902, it captures a wounded British officer in a railway carriage, accompanied by his wife and daughter. The weariness etched upon their faces tells a story of sacrifice, resilience, and love. As the train carries them towards home from South Africa, the officer reclines with his injured arm resting in a sling. His thoughts seem to drift away as he contemplates the horrors he has witnessed on foreign soil. Meanwhile, his wife sits beside him with concern etched across her face; she is both mother and caregiver to her wounded husband. Their young daughter sits opposite them, dressed in clothes befitting her time period. Her innocent eyes reflect an understanding beyond her years - witnessing firsthand how war can shatter lives and families. This image serves as a metaphor for countless families affected by conflict throughout history. It speaks to the universal experience of soldiers returning home after battle - seeking solace within their loved ones' embrace while grappling with physical pain and emotional scars. Through this print captured over a century ago, we are reminded of the enduring impact that war has on individuals, families, and societies at large. It stands as an important testament to our shared humanity amidst times of turmoil – reminding us never to forget those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
