23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Aviateurs; Une visite de Gabriele d'Annunzio aux aviateurs français de Venise

EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating photograph print from the First World War era, dating back to 1916. The image, taken from the "Collection de la Guerre IV. L'Illustration Tome CXLVIII. La Guerre Juillet, Aout, Septembre, Octobre, Novembre, Décembre 1916," showcases an intriguing moment in history as the Italian poet Gabriele d'Annunzio pays a visit to French aviators at an airfield in Venice, Italy. The photograph captures d'Annunzio, dressed in elegant attire, standing amongst a group of pilots from the Nieuport fighter squadron. The poet, who is known for his literary contributions to the Italian language and culture, is seen here in a casual setting, surrounded by the brave men of the French Air Force. The consul of France is also present, adding an official touch to the scene. The photograph offers a unique glimpse into the lives of the aviators during the war, showcasing their uniforms and the equipment they used for aerial warfare and transport. The image also highlights the intersection of art and war, as d'Annunzio, a renowned poet and writer, interacts with these military personnel. The photograph's composition is striking, with the pilots arranged in a semi-circle around d'Annunzio, creating a sense of unity and camaraderie. The location, an airfield, adds to the sense of adventure and danger that was a part of the aviation industry during the First World War. Overall, this photograph is a valuable historical document, offering insights into the people, fashion, and events of the early 20th century.
