23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This watercolor painting by Dirk Langendijk depicts an Anti-English demonstration that took place in Rotterdam on March 2, 1781, during the Fourth Anglo-Dutch War. The scene is filled with a sense of urgency and passion as a large crowd follows a group of sailors, their faces expressive and determined. The sailors carry Dutch, American, and French flags, while a British flag is being trampled underfoot. The architectural features of the buildings in the background add a sense of stability and history to the scene. The gabled houses with their intricate details and colorful facades create a picturesque backdrop to the unfolding events. The canal, a common feature of the Low Countries, adds to the sense of location and time period. The Fourth Anglo-Dutch War was a significant imperial conflict between Britain and the Dutch Republic, with the United States also involved due to its colonial ties to both countries. The war was marked by naval battles and commercial raids, and this demonstration in Rotterdam reflects the tensions and passions that were running high during this period. The painting is a testament to the rich artistic heritage of the Netherlands and the events that shaped its history. The vibrant colors and intricate details of the watercolor technique bring the scene to life, transporting us back to a time of war, protest, and colonialism.
