17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Factory Parking Lot, 1936 - A Glimpse into America's Industrial Landscape

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This photograph captures the essence of a bygone era - the year is 1936, amidst the Great Depression and the early days of Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. The image showcases an employee parking lot at the Calco Chemical Company near Bound Brook, New Jersey. Photographed by Carl Mydans in February of that year, this snapshot offers a unique window into American industry during a time of economic hardship. The factory building stands tall against a backdrop of cold winter skies, billowing smokestacks releasing plumes of smoke into the air. The scene is blanketed with snow; tire tracks mark paths through the pristine whiteness as automobiles from that era are neatly parked side by side. Telephone poles and power lines crisscross above, emphasizing both connectivity and isolation simultaneously. This photograph not only serves as a historical document but also evokes emotions tied to resilience and hard work during challenging times. It symbolizes how industries like Calco Chemical played their part in providing employment opportunities for countless workers striving to make ends meet. As we gaze upon this frozen moment in time, we can't help but marvel at its stark beauty while contemplating the stories hidden within each car parked there - stories of hope, determination, and survival etched onto every surface under layers of snow.
