23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the late 19th century, immersing us in the gritty reality of New York City's Lower East Side. The image, a drawing by W. A. Rogers featured on the front page of Harpers Weekly on August 10,1889, portrays a Board of Health Doctor attending to residents in a crowded tenement building. The doctor stands tall amidst the cramped apartment interior, his presence exuding both authority and compassion. Surrounding him are weary faces - a mother anxiously clutching her child, an elderly man seeking solace from his ailments. This snapshot captures the struggles faced by America's urban poor during this era. The setting itself tells a story: dilapidated walls adorned with peeling paint, meager furnishings scattered about haphazardly. It is within these humble surroundings that this dedicated physician brings hope and healing to those who need it most. Notably, this illustration also sheds light on the cultural diversity present in New York City at that time. The Jewish population is represented through subtle details such as religious symbols adorning clothing or hanging on walls. As we gaze upon this powerful image from over a century ago, we are reminded of how far public health has come since then. Yet it also serves as a poignant reminder that there is still work to be done in ensuring access to quality healthcare for all members of society.
