Comb Combing Degas Domestic Edgar Hair Impressionist Nude Pastel

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

DEGAS - COMBING HAIR, 1887-90. Woman Combing Her Hair

EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating print that showcases the mastery of Edgar Degas in capturing intimate everyday moments. Created between 1887 and 1890, this pastel on beige paper piece exemplifies Degas' impressionist style and his ability to depict the beauty in mundane activities. In this artwork, we see a nude woman seated in a domestic setting, engrossed in the act of combing her hair. The soft hues and delicate strokes of pastel bring out the subtle textures of her skin and hair, while also highlighting the play of light within the room. Degas' attention to detail is evident as he captures every strand with precision. The composition invites viewers into an intimate space where they can observe this private moment. It offers a glimpse into the daily rituals and routines that often go unnoticed but are essential parts of our lives. Through his unique perspective, Degas elevates these ordinary actions to fine art. As one of the leading figures of French Impressionism, Edgar Degas revolutionized traditional artistic techniques by focusing on fleeting moments and unconventional subjects like women at their most vulnerable or engaged in personal grooming tasks. "DEGAS: COMBING HAIR" serves as a testament to his innovative approach and enduring legacy within art history. This Granger Collection print allows us to appreciate not only Degas' skillful technique but also his ability to capture human emotion through simple gestures
