FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage engraving by Gustave Dore captures a haunting scene from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's epic poem, "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". In this print, moonlight gently blankets the bay while the shadow of the Moon looms overhead. The mariner, having returned from a treacherous sea voyage, stops a man on his way to a wedding and begins to recount his harrowing tale. Created in 1882, this engraved image exudes an eerie and antique charm. It showcases woodcut-style illustration that was popular during the 19th century. The black and white composition adds to its spooky allure. The artwork evokes feelings of hopelessness and despair as it delves into themes of superstition and cursed fate. It transports us back in time to an era when sailing ships ruled the seas and sailors faced unimaginable challenges. With its intricate details and Victorian style, this fine art painting invites viewers to explore history through visual storytelling. It reminds us of our connection with ancient tales passed down through generations. As we gaze at this print, we are transported into a world where luck is fickle, problems abound, but there is still beauty in darkness. The moonlit sky above reflects upon calm waters while stars twinkle against the night canvas. Duncan1890's rendition encapsulates both the mystique and tragedy found within Coleridge's masterpiece—a timeless reminder that even in our modern age, stories from centuries past continue to captivate our imagination.
