17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures a significant moment in the history of science. In this print, we see Marie Curie, the renowned Polish-born French physicist and pioneer in radioactivity, standing alongside Dean Pegram, the esteemed Dean of the School of Engineering at Columbia University. The year is 1921, and both individuals exude an air of intellect and determination. Marie Curie's contributions to chemistry and physics are immeasurable. Her groundbreaking research on radiation led to her discovery of two new elements - polonium and radium - earning her not one but two Nobel Prizes in Physics (1903) and Chemistry (1911). She became the first woman ever to receive such prestigious accolades. Dean Pegram stands beside her as a symbol of recognition from Columbia University for Curie's remarkable achievements. His presence signifies the importance placed on scientific advancements within academia during this early 20th century period. The composition beautifully captures their shared passion for knowledge with Marie Curie holding what appears to be a book or document while Dean Pegram looks on attentively. Their expressions convey mutual respect and admiration for each other's work. As we gaze upon this historic image, we are reminded not only of Marie Curie's immense impact on our understanding of natural sciences but also of her trailblazing role as a female scientist in a male-dominated field. This photograph serves as a testament to her enduring legacy that continues to inspire generations worldwide. Bridgeman Images has once again brought us an invaluable piece from their collection, allowing us to delve into the rich tapestry of scientific history through visual artistry.
