17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Four Hours of the Day - Night, 1774

EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating oil painting by Louis Joseph Watteau that transports viewers to an idyllic countryside setting in 18th century France. The artwork, measuring 65x84 cm, can be found at the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Valenciennes. In this enchanting scene, Watteau skillfully captures the essence of rural life during dusk. A family gathers around a wooden table placed on a charming garden bench outside their farmhouse. The warm glow from the lantern illuminates their faces as they enjoy a meal together. A woman and man sit side by side, while a child sits close to them with an adorable puppy resting at her feet. The artist's attention to detail brings every element of this composition to life - from the vibrant colors adorning the landscape to the intricate folds in each character's clothing. The tranquility of this moment is further enhanced by the peaceful presence of farm animals grazing nearby. Watteau's "Four Hours of the Day: Night" not only showcases his mastery as an artist but also offers us a glimpse into rural French life centuries ago. It reminds us of simpler times when families gathered under starlit skies and cherished moments spent together in nature's embrace. This exquisite piece serves as a timeless reminder that amidst our fast-paced modern lives, there is beauty and solace in reconnecting with nature and loved ones – even if just for four hours after nightfall.
