Animal Attacks Moose New Hampshire
17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This engraving, titled "A Squatters Adventure with a Moose in New Hampshire, USA" takes us back to the wild landscapes of 19th-century America. Created by John Charlton and published in The Graphic on March 23,1895, this illustration tells a thrilling tale of survival and bravery. In this dramatic scene, we witness a heart-pounding encounter between a group of squatters and an imposing moose. The tension is palpable as the massive creature towers over the startled settlers and their horses. With its antlers raised high and eyes fixed on its adversaries, the moose exudes power and dominance. The artist skillfully captures the rugged beauty of New Hampshire's wilderness – dense forests enveloping snow-covered mountains – setting the stage for this intense confrontation. The contrasting emotions on each character's face reflect their individual responses to this unexpected encounter: fear, determination, or perhaps even awe. Through intricate details and masterful shading techniques characteristic of engravings from that era, Charlton transports us into this perilous moment frozen in time. This print serves as both an artistic masterpiece and historical documentation of life during America's westward expansion. As we gaze upon this artwork today, it reminds us not only of our connection to nature but also our ability to confront challenges head-on. It invites us to imagine ourselves in those settlers' shoes – feeling their adrenaline rush while admiring their resilience against formidable odds.
