Straw Hat Viscountess Vicomtesse

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases Pulcherie de Valence, a remarkable woman of the 18th century. In this image, she is depicted carrying a sheaf of wheat adorned with vibrant poppies and cornflowers. The painting, created by an anonymous French artist from the same era, captures her elegance and grace. Pulcherie de Valence was born as Pulcherie de Genlis in 1766 to Madame de Genlis (1746-1830) and Charles-Alexis Brulart, Comte de Genlis. She married Vicomte de Valence in 1785 but unfortunately divorced him in 1793. This portrait may possibly be a self-portrait as Pulcherie was known for her talent in painting miniatures of the French royal family. Dressed beautifully with a straw hat adorning her head, Pulcherie exudes confidence and poise. Her visage reflects both strength and vulnerability simultaneously—a testament to the complexities of being a woman during that time. This print offers us a glimpse into history—an intimate portrayal of an extraordinary individual who defied societal norms through artistry and resilience. It serves as a reminder that even amidst personal struggles, one can find solace and express oneself through creativity. Displayed proudly among other fine artworks, this piece from Bridgeman Images captures not only the essence of its subject but also invites viewers to appreciate the beauty found within each brushstroke on canvas—the timeless allure that transcends generations.
