31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This engraving depicts the intense battle between the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings at Stamford Bridge in 1066. The artist, William Hounsom Byles, skillfully captures the chaos and ferocity of this historic clash. In this dramatic scene, we witness a pivotal moment in English history as these two formidable forces collide on the battlefield. The image showcases a vast array of weaponry, with soldiers wielding swords, axes, and shields as they engage in hand-to-hand combat. The warriors are adorned in helmets and armor, their faces etched with determination and grit. Amidst the chaos of war, the iconic bridge serves as a backdrop to this fierce struggle for dominance. The Battle of Stamford Bridge was fought during Harold II's reign as King of England against an invading Viking army led by Harald Hardrada. This conflict marked one of the last major battles fought by Viking raiders on British soil before their eventual defeat at Hastings later that same year. Byles' engraving not only captures a historical event but also provides us with a glimpse into medieval warfare tactics and attire. It serves as a powerful reminder of our ancestors' struggles for power and survival. This remarkable print is part of a private collection but has been made accessible through Fine Art Finder's collaboration with Bridgeman Images. Its black-and-white composition adds to its timeless appeal while preserving its historical significance for generations to come.
