23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This vibrant and intriguing print captures the essence of early 20th-century British politics. The image features a stack of loaves of bread, cleverly used as an election postcard on behalf of John Barker, a prominent supporter of free trade. Created by an anonymous English School artist, this colour lithograph showcases the creativity and wit employed during political campaigns in that era. The juxtaposition between the large loaf at the bottom and the smaller ones stacked on top symbolizes Barker's stance against protectionism and tariff reform. It serves as a visual representation of his belief in free trade as essential for economic growth and prosperity. Surrounded by flowers on a table, this postcard evokes feelings of warmth and abundance while highlighting the importance of food supply in political discourse. The message behind this artwork goes beyond mere campaign propaganda; it speaks to larger themes such as national identity, British culture, and even European Union dynamics. As we delve into history through this piece, we are reminded not only of past electoral battles but also how deeply intertwined politics is with our daily lives. This photograph offers us a glimpse into an era when politicians utilized creative means to convey their messages to voters. Overall, this print is not just about bread or elections; it represents a snapshot from Britain's rich political heritage – one that continues to shape its future trajectory within Europe and beyond.
