This vibrant and intriguing print captures the essence of early 20th-century British politics. The image features a stack of loaves of bread, cleverly used as an election postcard on behalf of John Barker, a prominent supporter of free trade. Created by an anonymous English School artist, this colour lithograph showcases the creativity and wit employed during political campaigns in that era. The juxtaposition between the large loaf at the bottom and the smaller ones stacked on top symbolizes Barker's stance against protectionism and tariff reform. It serves as a visual representation of his belief in free trade as essential for economic growth and prosperity.
