23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Collecting Taxes - A Glimpse into 19th Century Authority and Inequality
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This oil painting, titled "Collecting Taxes" by British artist Henry Stacey Marks, offers a fascinating insight into the societal dynamics of the mid-19th century. Measuring 30.2x94 cm, this large panel showcases a bustling scene filled with men, women, and children. The Victorian-era artwork portrays a group of individuals gathered for the purpose of tax collection. The composition highlights the authority figures in control – middle-aged men meticulously scrutinizing financial documents while young girls assist in counting coins. Amidst this display of power and wealth stands a youthful child observing with curiosity. Marks' attention to detail is evident as he captures the nuances of each character's expression and posture. This panoramic image allows viewers to immerse themselves in an era marked by social inequality and economic disparity. Through his brushstrokes, Marks skillfully depicts both maturity and youthfulness among his subjects - symbolizing various stages of life affected by taxation policies. The artist's mastery lies in his ability to convey not only the business-like nature of tax collection but also its impact on everyday people. As we gaze upon this remarkable piece from our private collection, we are transported back to a time when finances were tightly controlled by those in power. "Collecting Taxes" serves as a poignant reminder that even within art lies evidence of historical struggles for equality and justice.
