Bastion Battlement Chimney Corbel Parapet

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This engraving takes us back in time to the majestic Castle Howel, nestled within the picturesque Barony of Kells in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The print is a remarkable reproduction from George Virtue's renowned work "Scenery and Antiquities of Ireland" dating back to the 1860s. The image showcases the grandeur and architectural marvel of Castle Howel, with its imposing fortress-like structure dominating the landscape. Its sturdy arches and crumbling ruins evoke a sense of history and mystery that captivates our imagination. As we gaze upon this enchanting scene, our eyes are drawn to the intricate details captured by William Henry Bartlett's skilled hand. From chimneys rising into the sky to corbels adorning ancient walls, every element tells a story of centuries past. The castle's battlements stand tall against time's relentless passage, reminding us of its former glory as a strategic stronghold. The bastions and parapets speak volumes about its defensive capabilities during turbulent times. Through this print, we are transported to an era long gone but not forgotten – where knights once roamed these halls and whispered secrets echoed through these corridors. It serves as a testament to Ireland's rich heritage and invites us to explore further into its fascinating history. This exquisite piece from Ken Welsh's private collection allows us to appreciate both Virtue's artistic vision and Bartlett's meticulous craftsmanship while immersing ourselves in the timeless beauty of Castle Howel.
