17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This 19th-century oil painting titled "Gipsy Girl" by Robert Walker Macbeth transports viewers to a simpler time. The print, measuring 20.3x29.2 cm, showcases the artist's remarkable talent in capturing the essence of life on canvas. The scene depicts two individuals, a man and a woman, immersed in their nomadic lifestyle within a picturesque countryside setting. A pony-drawn caravan stands nearby as they take a momentary break from their travels. The gypsies find solace near a tranquil lake surrounded by vibrant wildflowers, including delicate foxgloves that add an enchanting touch to the composition. In this intimate portrayal, Macbeth skillfully portrays the duo cooking over an open fire—an everyday activity that symbolizes both sustenance and warmth amidst their wandering existence. Their connection with nature is evident as they harmoniously coexist with animals; horses graze peacefully nearby while birds soar above them. Macbeth's attention to detail shines through his brushstrokes, bringing life and depth to every element of the painting. From the subtle play of light on each character's face to the intricate textures found in their clothing and surroundings—every aspect contributes to creating an immersive experience for viewers. This exquisite piece from The McManus collection at Dundee Art Galleries and Museums serves as a testament to Macbeth's artistic prowess and offers us a glimpse into the fascinating world of these traveling souls from centuries past.
