23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

MFC-A-004678-0027 - A Glimpse of Pune's Serene Lake and Cultural Diversity
EDITORS COMMENTS
. Step back in time to the enchanting city of Pune, or Poona as it was known during the English colonial era. This black-and-white photo print, captured by Samuel Bourne around 1863-1870, offers a mesmerizing view of Pune's picturesque lake. As your eyes wander across the image, you are immediately drawn to two adolescents standing in the foreground, proudly donning their traditional Indian headdresses. The landscape surrounding the lake is nothing short of breathtaking. Majestic hillsides gracefully frame this serene body of water, creating a tranquil ambiance that seems almost otherworldly. The interplay between light and shadow adds depth and mystique to this timeless scene. Beyond its natural beauty lies an intriguing glimpse into India's rich cultural tapestry. The presence of these indigenous individuals invites us to contemplate the diversity within Asian populations during that era. With their unique attire and proud expressions, they represent a living testament to centuries-old traditions passed down through generations. This remarkable photograph not only captures a moment frozen in time but also serves as an invaluable anthropological artifact. It provides valuable insights into population dynamics and nationalities prevalent in 19th-century India while offering glimpses into folklore and ethnographic nuances. As we admire Bourne's artistry behind this stunning composition, let us appreciate its historical significance beyond mere aesthetics. This print transports us back to an era when Pune was still emerging as a prominent cultural hub under British rule—a place where nature's beauty intertwined with human heritage.
