17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases "The Kingdoms of England and Ireland" an exquisite engraving by G. Zuliani from Tome I of the "Newest Atlas" published in Venice in 1776 by Antonio Zatta. Housed in a private collection, this artwork represents the Renaissance-Baroque styles and periods that flourished during Europe's first and second millennium. Dating back to 1776, Zuliani's masterful craftsmanship comes to life through intricate details and precise lines, capturing the essence of these historical territories. The map serves as both a geographical representation and an allegory for the rich history of Great Britain and Ireland. With its abstract concept and symbolic nature, this topographical map transcends mere cartography. It stands as a testament to the power of drawing, graphics, and communication as essential tools for understanding our world. As we gaze upon this piece, we are transported back to the eighteenth century when such maps were vital instruments for exploration and documentation. The sea surrounding these islands adds depth to the scene while emphasizing their isolation yet interconnectedness with other nations across Europe. This artwork not only reflects modern history but also provides insights into past civilizations, peoples, territories, and their evolving relationships. Through its fusion of Renaissance-Baroque styles with elements from earlier centuries, this engraving captures a unique moment in European art history. Its presence evokes curiosity about how knowledge was disseminated during that time period—how maps like these served as means of communication between nations. In conclusion, Alinari's photograph preserves this remarkable artwork from 2009 while paying homage to its origins in 1776—an enduring symbol bridging multiple centuries—a true treasure within Florence's private collection.
