Two special trains were used to move a farm - lock, stock and barrel, from Edenbridge

Two special trains were used to move a farm - lock, stock and barrel, from Edenbridge, Kent, to Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The first train took the dead stock and equipment, and the second the animals. The farm was Delaware Farm of Cecil Moores - famous for the Bapton Shorthorn Herd, which has now moved to Cairnbrogie, Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire. Seen here some animals being loaded into the train at Edenbridge Town Station, Kent, England.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photo captures a momentous event in the history of farming. In 1955, two special trains were employed to transport an entire farm from Edenbridge, Kent to Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The first train carried all the necessary equipment and lifeless stock while the second was dedicated to transporting the precious animals. Delaware Farm, owned by Cecil Moores, was renowned for its esteemed Bapton Shorthorn Herd - a breed that had gained nationwide recognition. Now destined for Cairnbrogie in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, this relocation marked a significant chapter in the farm's legacy. The image showcases a bustling scene at Edenbridge Town Station as men dressed in white coats diligently load animals into horse boxes on the platform. The atmosphere is charged with anticipation and excitement as these workers carefully ensure each animal's comfort during their journey northwards. This snapshot not only immortalizes an extraordinary feat of logistics but also offers us a glimpse into rural life during the mid-20th century. It serves as a reminder of how agriculture has evolved over time and highlights the dedication of those who worked tirelessly to preserve valuable livestock bloodlines. Preserved by General from TopFoto, this photograph stands as testament to human ingenuity and determination in overcoming geographical barriers for agricultural progress.
