Interacting galaxies Arp 147, HST image

Interacting galaxies Arp 147. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of a pair of interacting galaxies known as Arp 147. The galaxy at left is relatively undisturbed apart from a smooth ring of starlight. It appears nearly on edge to our line of sight. The galaxy at right exhibits a clumpy, blue ring of intense star formation. Arp 147 is located in the constellation of Cetus, around 440 million light years from Earth. The area seen here is around 154, 000 light years across. This image was obtained in October 2008 as part of a test of the HSTs primary working camera, the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2)

A2 (59.4 x 42cm) Poster Print

Discover the cosmic wonders of the universe with our Media Storehouse Poster Prints featuring the captivating image of Interacting Galaxies Arp 147. This stunning HST image from Science Photo Library showcases a pair of interacting galaxies, with one relatively undisturbed apart from a smooth ring of stars, while the other is in the process of being disrupted and distorted. Bring the beauty of the cosmos into your home or office with this high-quality poster print, perfect for inspiring awe and igniting curiosity.

A2 Poster (59.4 x 42cm, 23.4" x 16.5" inches) printed on 170gsm Satin Poster Paper. Securely packaged, rolled and inserted into a strong mailing tube and shipped tracked. Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Whilst we only use Photographic Prints in our frames, you can frame Poster Prints if they are carefully supported to prevent sagging over time.

Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). Whilst poster paper is sometimes thinner and less durable than our other paper types, they are still ok for framing and should last many years. Our Archival Quality Photo Prints and Fine Art Paper Prints are printed on higher quality paper and the choice of which largely depends on your budget.

Estimated Image Size (if not cropped) is 51cm x 42cm (20.1" x 16.5")

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the mesmerizing beauty of interacting galaxies known as Arp 147, captured by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). The left galaxy appears undisturbed, displaying a serene smooth ring of starlight. Positioned almost edge-on from our perspective, it offers a glimpse into its untouched majesty. On the other hand, the right galaxy presents an awe-inspiring sight with its clumpy and vibrant blue ring bursting with intense star formation. Arp 147 resides in the constellation of Cetus and lies approximately 440 million light years away from Earth. The area depicted in this image spans an impressive distance of around 154,000 light years across. This stunning snapshot was taken back in October 2008 during a test conducted on HST's primary working camera called the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2). The photograph not only captures these celestial wonders but also serves as a testament to humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge about our vast universe. It provides valuable insights into astrophysics and astrophysical phenomena such as stellar evolution and galactic interactions. Science Photo Library has expertly preserved this extraordinary moment for us to marvel at the grandeur of space exploration and appreciate the intricate dance between these two interacting galaxies that have been eternally frozen in time.
