Andromeda Galaxy core stars, artwork

Andromeda Galaxy core stars, artwork. This disk of young, blue stars is thought to be orbiting a supermassive black hole at the core of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31). The background stars are the older, redder population of stars typical found in galactic cores. Observations by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) indicate that 400 of these young blue stars formed about 200 million years ago, forming a disk that is only one light year across, with orbital speeds of 1000 kilometres a second. A2 Poster (59.4 x 42cm, 23.4" x 16.5" inches) printed on 170gsm Satin Poster Paper. Securely packaged, rolled and inserted into a strong mailing tube and shipped tracked. Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Whilst we only use Photographic Prints in our frames, you can frame Poster Prints if they are carefully supported to prevent sagging over time.

Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). EDITORS COMMENTS
This artwork showcases the core of the Andromeda Galaxy, offering a mesmerizing glimpse into the wonders of our universe. The image depicts a disk composed of vibrant, young blue stars gracefully orbiting around a supermassive black hole at the heart of Andromeda (M31). In stark contrast to these youthful stars, the background is adorned with older, redder stars commonly found in galactic cores. Thanks to observations made by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), we have come to understand that approximately 400 of these brilliant blue stars formed roughly 200 million years ago. Remarkably, this compact disk spans just one light year and boasts orbital speeds reaching an astonishing 1000 kilometers per second. Published in 2005 as a stunning piece of astronomical artistry, this illustration not only captures our imagination but also serves as a testament to humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge about our vast cosmos. It symbolizes our ongoing research and exploration into gravity's influence on celestial bodies and sheds light on the intricate dynamics within galaxies like Andromeda. As we gaze upon this breathtaking depiction from Science Photo Library, we are reminded once again that there is so much more left for us to discover beyond our own planet. This image invites us to contemplate the mysteries yet unraveled and marvel at both the beauty and complexity inherent in every corner of space.
