This lithograph depicts the Ko-i-Staun Foot Soldiery in their summer costumes, actively employed among the rocks. Part of a series of 30 colored lithographs titled "The costumes of the various tribes, portraits of ladies of rank, celebrated Princes and Chiefs, views of the principal fortresses and cities and interior of the cities and temples of Afghaunistaun," this print was created by R Carrick after Lt. James Rattray of the 2nd Grenadiers, Bengal Army. The intricate detail and vibrant colors bring to life the rugged terrain and the determined stance of the Ko-i-Staun foot soldiers.
