Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Whilst we only use Photographic Prints in our frames, you can frame Poster Prints if they are carefully supported to prevent sagging over time.

Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). Whilst poster paper is sometimes thinner and less durable than our other paper types, they are still ok for framing and should last many years. Our Archival Quality Photo Prints and Fine Art Paper Prints are printed on higher quality paper and the choice of which largely depends on your budget.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the innovative Arado Ar 231, an ambitious attempt by the German Navy during World War II to equip U-boats with a readily stowable set of far-over-horizon eyes. Known as the "Seaplane-Barge," this unique aircraft was designed to be carried and launched from a U-boat, expanding the submarine's reconnaissance capabilities significantly. The Arado Ar 231 was a two-seat, single-engine, amphibious biplane, featuring a folding wings design that allowed it to be stored within the U-boat's hull when not in use. With a maximum takeoff weight of 2,650 kg, the Ar 231 could reach a top speed of 120 km/h and had a range of approximately 1,200 km. The Seaplane-Barge was armed with two 7.92mm machine guns and could carry up to 250 kg of bombs. Its primary role was to scout for enemy ships and report their positions back to the U-boat, enabling more effective and efficient submarine warfare. Despite its promising potential, the Arado Ar 231 faced numerous challenges during its development and testing phases. The complex process of launching and recovering the aircraft from a U-boat at sea proved to be challenging, and the aircraft's fuel consumption was higher than anticipated. Additionally, the Ar 231 was not deployed operationally until late in the war, limiting its impact on the outcome of the conflict. This photograph captures the Arado Ar 231 in its element, showcasing the ingenuity and determination of the German Navy during World War II to push the boundaries of technology and adapt to the ever-evolving battlefield.
