Le later switched his attention to the Arctic, but was killed in 1936 when his ship, the Pourquoi-Pas? was wrecked in a storm off the coast of Iceland. This print captures the renowned French explorer, Jean-Baptiste Charcot, in 1910. Known for his commanding role in the French Antarctic Expeditions of 1904-1907 and 1908-1910, Charcot's legacy as an intrepid explorer is etched into history.
