He holds a huge ball and invites people to compete for a first prize of a trip to the moon. " Cinders" wins it. In the panto dozens of paper mache heads are used by the actors and actresses and whilst Cinders was awaiting her turn at todays dress rehearsals she sat among the props. EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we are transported back to the enchanting world of The Place, a theatre nestled in Dukes Road, Euston, London. It is here that the Hoop in the Lane Theatre Company brings to life a whimsical space age adaptation of Cinderella called 'The Merry Roosters Panto'. Departing from tradition, this rendition replaces the iconic pumpkin carriage with a lively bouncing toy ball and Prince Charming assumes the role of an intrepid astronaut. Amidst today's dress rehearsals, our beloved protagonist 'Cinders', portrayed by the lovely Serretta Wilson, finds herself immersed among an array of props including dozens of intricately crafted paper mache heads. As she awaits her turn on stage, anticipation fills the air as Prince Charming played by Johnny Lyons holds aloft a colossal ball inviting eager participants to compete for an extraordinary prize - a journey to the moon! This delightful snapshot captures not only the magic and creativity behind pantomime productions but also showcases how entertainment evolves with time. Set against December 1969's backdrop, when humanity was captivated by space exploration during Apollo 11's historic landing on lunar soil; it perfectly encapsulates society's fascination with all things celestial. Let this image transport you back in time as you marvel at these talented actors and actresses who bring joy and wonderment to audiences through their artistry.
