Frederick Courteney Selous (1851-1917): A Victorian Era Big Game Hunter and Naturalist This historic photograph captures the renowned British explorer, hunter, and naturalist, Frederick Courteney Selous, in the prime of his career. Born in 1851, Selous spent much of his life in Africa, but also hunted in North America and Asia Minor.
